2/3/2011 - David Guetta (featuring Kelly Rowland) - When Love Takes Over A club favorite, this song reminds me of working out. It's on about three or four of my playlists and you can't help but start pumping up your workout when the chorus kicks in. Yeah, I know, it's awfully "gay." But, guess what?.... Grade: B
2/7/2011 - Mumford and Sons - The Cave This song will forever remind me of Lollipop and driving up to North Carolina with Taffy and looking at the winter's countryside. It does kinda freak me out when he's calls the person he's singing to a meat-eat-er. Grade: A
2/14/2011 - Rihanna - G4L I first heard this song at the end of a PNSexplosion (a theme that you'll see with some other songs future posts). The lyrics are, for the most part, trash. I'm not necessarily into gangsta speak (shocking, I know), but I can picture cool hip hop dance routines to some of the beats and music. Plus listening to the equivalent of a human lollipop (not that of Huffington ancestry) talking about shooting guns and slurring "fuck" every few seconds? Kinda funny. Grade: B
2/16/2011 - Rascal Flatts - I Won't Let Go I was in charge of music for this year's Bereavment Camp that we do (did) at work. Someone recommended this song for use for the memorial service. I stated that I didn't think it would be a good song because...you know, Rascal Flatts? Really? I was outvoted until the last minute, when some other song was chosen. I don't think I've ever listened to this song since the first time I downloaded it, but even then it was a freakin' Rascal Flatts song, so Grade: C (Average, like...well, them.)
3/3/2011 - The Runaways - Cherry Bomb I bought the song after watching the movie based on the band with Dakota Fanning and Kristen Stewart (which was surprisingly REALLY good). It's definitely a time capsule back to a time that I don't remember, and that wasn't my parents' idea of rock music (they liked Journey and Billy Joel), but it's still a fun, fun song. And this song is an example of a song that we talk about in Episode 193 - Coming soon! Grade: A
1.) Open your eyes. Looking sexy only works if you don't look like you need a nippa-nap.
2.) Am I the only one who, when she says, "I don't know much about algebra..." thinks of "U + Me = US" by 2ge+her?
3.) The whole mirror screen thing? Very Prince, circa 1984
4.) The song itself? Very Tina Turner, circa 1984
5.) Are her parents still her managers? Do they watch these videos of her yell-singing "Make love to me!" and think, "Good! Just the image we want to project!" Do you think her parent's get freaky to her music? (Actually, forget I asked that...I don't want to know..)
6.) I kinda like this song.
but THIS may be the best thing on the internet. Seriously. You can't take you're eyes off it. And watch it to the end for a short play by play, of sorts
In this week's show, Rodan gets buff(not yet), Taffy ponders all things reality TV (not really), and Taylor gets political (not quite). And we talk yet again about actors and actresses who haven't mattered in 25 years, because, you know, that's what we do here!
Please be sure that you've left us a glowing review on iTunes and the Android market, and don't forget to check out Pod Is My Copilot - The APP! on your store or marketplace!
1/13/2011 - Britney Spears - Hold It Against Me It's garbage, but it's fun garbage. I'm not ashamed to have purchased it. I am a liiiiittle ashamed at it's play count on my playlist. The video could have been great, but, alas, it sucks. (Grade: A)
1/16/2011 - Bing Crosby, Danny Kaye, Rosemary Clooney, Vera Ellen - Snow Viewers of the video podcasts will have heard this purchase during the episodes where Taffy and I were trapped in South Carolina, not so ironically called, "Snow!" For that reason, I will always have fond memories of this song. That, and two years ago when Babaloo and I watched White Christmas together for the first time...and I sang this song to him while the movie played...as Cher. Well, anyway, he thought it was funny. (Grade: A)
1/17/2011 - Peaches - Talk To Me And now for something completely different from Snow. I love the way this song has a very new wave vibe to it. It reminds me of B sides from stuff I loved to listen to in the early 80s on old 45s or, later on, cassingles ('member those?) I also think fondly of the boys over at That's What She Said podcast, as I know they are big Peaches fans (there's about four ways to take that last sentence boys...do with it what you will) And the video is creepy and retro...she's a very handsome woman, that Peaches. (Grade: B)
1/17/2011 - Christina Aguilera - Keeps Gettin' Better I was going through a Christina phase, having relistened to Back To Basics and having bought the Burlesque Soundtrack (both are actually very good.). I remembered this song was on her greatest hits and thought it would make sense, given I had all the other songs from the album that I wanted (via other CDs and downloads) that I would get this one. Eh. I can see why it wasn't a successful single a couple of years ago. She sounds bored. So am I. (Grade: C-)
1/25/2011 - Benoit Charest - Cabaret aspiratuer From the film The Triplets of Belleville, I associate this with one of my favorite dance numbers from So You Think You Can Dance. I loved the routine and this song wasn't available in iTunes for years, and then occasionally checking to see if it was available when I was bored, there it was. Weird and trippy, it's great background music for when you're getting ready for work in the morning. (Grade: B-)
1/26/2011 - Kate Bush - This Woman's Work How the hell did I not own this song before this? It's inexcusable, really. (Grade: A+)
No animals, or Cubans, were harmed in the making of this video. Just a silly little video of what goes on in Casa Babalatte when a video camera is on and pugs are near. Filmed back in June, 2011.

So, I noticed, after creating a list of music I had bought since the beginning of the year, that I haven't bought a lot of music. In fact, this year, I have probably spent less money on music than I have in my entire life, or at least since I was about 14 years old. Part of it may be because I'm just getting older, and part of it may be because I don't listen to the radio anymore. I tend to listen to podcasts, or unless there is something that another show, friend or website I go to directs me to check out, I tend to ignore popular music at large.
As of right now, I have 75 songs downloaded, and that includes a couple of albums and EPs. Songs range from the 1950s to today. I thought I would occasionally post what songs I bought and what I thought of them. 1.) It's blog content, and 2.) It will give you all something to talk about (if you are, in fact, interested enough to read this.). The song may have a review attatched to it, or it may just have a comment about where I was when I heard it or what not. But all the songs have been bought in the last 9 months.
I say nine months because I'm already breaking my rules and going to talk about songs purchased after Christmas, 2010. I used iTunes gift cards to buy them, and, come on, it's close to 2011, right?
12/25/2010 - Katy Perry - Teenage Dream
While I am not a huge Katy Perry fan, I seem to have a couple of songs of hers from her latest album. It's hard to not compare this to Darren Criss' version from Glee, which personally I think it superior, but the song has a very beachy summery feel to it and, given I do a lot of driving down near the beach for work, it's a nice laid back dance song. Reminds me of summers at the Jersey Shore back in 1990, 91(Grade: B)
12/26/2010 - Ben Sharkey - Try As I Might (EP)
I posted a couple of Sharkey's videos a few years ago and occasionally, I have gone back and watched them. He's a cutie with a crooner's sensebilities, often singing covers of Buble or Sinatra songs. He released a 4 track EP called Try as I Might and, while I like at least two of the songs ("Actually" and "Won't You Come Back To Me") the EP definitely sounds very home made. It's just him and a guitar, but it doesn't have the polish you would hope for. He has his own channel, but here is a version of "Actually" It's got poor video quality, and that's a shame, because you REALLY want to go look at this guy! (Grade: B-, but because of production value)
12/30/2010 - The Bird And The Bee - Interpreting The Masters, Vol 1 (A Tribute To Daryl Hall and John Oates)
The Bird and The Bee remind me of Nessa of Hello Nessa fan. I bought this album at her recommendation, and I am SO glad I did. I was never a big Hall and Oates fan, but I figured the tongue in cheek stylings of the two could be worth a smile or two. Whenever these songs come on my iPod, I'm not sure what they are at first until the lyrics begin, but the intros are always so interesting they keep me listening though the whole song (I am a notorious Fast Forwarder). While I love just about every song on the album (including "She's Gone," which is one of my least favorite songs of ALL TIME!), "Heard It On The Radio," the one original track is the one that has the most plays and is the song I find myself bouncing my head along to the most. (Grade: A+)
1/1/11 - Shirley Bassey - Get The Party Started - I truly have no idea what made me get this song, other than I had showed the video to Babaloo and he thought it was hysterical. Taking the best of the P!nk song and the best of Bassey's 007 theme catalog and you've got a campy little ditty with a great video (which reminds me of a Target ad). However, I tend to tune out when this song comes in the car. (Grade: C)
1/1/11 - Adam Lambert - If I Had You
Speaking of drag queens...
It's a fun song to work out to, though I hate how he enunciates his Rs and when he said all we need is "sumluuuv." And I think of Taffy every time he says "You...y--y-yy-y You!" As that is her favorite part of the song...or she had a stutter. I guess we'll never know.... (Grade B-)
I recently read another blog and they talked about this scene. I forgot how much 1.) I love this movie (Rodan and I quoted it often when we lived together) and 2.) How much this resonated with me (not because of Rodan, before rumors get started.)
And yes, Taffy, I know, you hate Julia Roberts.

I love it very much. My acct name on there is PiMCTaylor. If you have it, please add me as a friend. Think of it as extra PiMC content! Plus I love looking at all the wonderful pictures those of you who I AM friends with take!
I crave more friends - c'mon, people! Show me the love!
Gerald Butler has lost 60 lbs and the scruf and added some highlights and a haircut that would make Nate Burkus (cicra 2006) happy...I, for one, am NOT PLEASED. That is all.
Rodan makes his house a home, Taffy makes the cheese amish, and Taylor makes an enemy of a member of Hollywood's elite...ish. All this and we're partying like it's 2009 (GoWalla, people - it's Taylor's latest obsession!)
Please take the time to comment on the blog about the topic that takes up the last half of the podcast, if you are so inclined. While not always funny, I would be interested to know if I (Taylor) overreacted to something, although as I type it, the word "overreact" is not the right word...just lemme know what you think!

It's EPCOT, people, where Taylor gets drunk, Taffy gets peeved, Babaloo gets 3.00 Ramen, Pat gets sprayed on, and Melanie gets a new nickname! And Rodan and Gambit are with us for about .3 seconds, til the end where we bright it on home! Thank you all for watching, in effect, our vacation slides!
