Ok so...Blackberry Sangria,to toast the New Year!

4 Cups Fresh Blackberries

3/4 Cup Sugar

1 1/2 Cups Water

2 Bottles (750 mil) Bottles Rose Wine

1 Cup Blackberry Flavored Brandy

1/4 Cup Sweetned Lime Juice

1 cup Ginger Ale (or sprite if you don't feel quite as Fancy)

• For the simple syrup; in a medium saucepan combine 2 cups of the berries, the sugar, water, and a dash of salt. Bring to a boil, reduce heat and simmer 10 minutes; cool slightly. Strain through a colander, pressing gently without crushing the fruit; discard berries. Cool syrup.

• For sangria; in gallon jar or picture combine the blackberry syrup, rose wine, brandy, lime juice, and fruit. Cover and refrigerate 4 to 24 hours.

• Serve over ice. Makes 13 8 oz. cups.

Ok, So ALL The Cool Podcasters Come To Florida....

Staying here in Florida this week ended up being a good thing, as I got to hook up (well, not HOOK UP hook up...I'm not Rodan....) with a couple of other podcasters! The Sunday before Christmas, Taffy and I rode down to Anna Maria Island to meet Pat Powers from PNS Explosion. It was a real treat to meet him, as PNS is one of my all time favorite podcasts! He was SO nice and just as funny as he is on the show!

THEN, not only is Rodan in town for a couple of days, sleeping on my new IKEA pull out couch, but I come to find out that Eric The Southern Boy was visiting his f

amily here in Tampa for like a day. So we pulled him away from his family long enough to hang out with us at a Chili's, which is kinda funny because he's a vegetarian...but relax, he got the nachos.... Oh, and our waitress and the hostesses were a lot of fun and demanded that if they were going to take our picture, then they wanted to be in one as well!!!

Much thanks to Miss Taffy Carlisle Huffington and the Huffington family for my wonderful Christmas presents that included a new food processor, and TWO, count 'em, TWO Le Creuset baking dishes in my kitchen colors!!! I'll seen so many recipes in my Barefoot Contessa cookbooks, as well as Drum Riley Calhoun's famous crowd pleasin' Mac and Cheese (via Martha Stewart), but haven't had a food processor that the recipe calls for. Looks like I don't have that excuse anymore.

Looks like you will all be getting to see more food porn here on the blog!!!

Right now, Taffy's been awake long enough to open gifts with her children, make them creme brulee french toast, retile her roof and deworm her dog, Rodan's into his second disc of Mr. Merlin: The Complete Second Season, and I'm waiting for my cinnamon rolls to bake while Babaloo makes scrambled eggs and bacon before we start opening gifts. Thank you all for a wonderful year of listening, and to those of you who sent us Christmas cards, thank you for your kind words and thoughts. We love all of you...some of you inappropriately....down there......

Ok, So Taffy Touched Me Inappropriately Today...

AND I LOVED IT! She adjusted my back after I have been complaining (for months) about how my shoulder has been bothering me. For some reason, she used this as an excuse to put her hand on my buttocks, but whatever she did, I feel great. The pain isn't gone, but it has diminished by at least half. I feel like I'm walking upright for the first time in forever!!!

So, last night, Babaloo and I went and saw The Eight: Reindeer Monologues as directed by Michael Colavolpe and starring Kevin Bee. Holy crap!

They only have two more performances today, but if you live in the Orlando area, but if you live nearby and like your holiday cheer dark...I mean, DARK....then go see this show! It's amazing.

And I am going on record as saying I would watch Kevin Bee read the phone book. And whoever played Blitzen, you were awesome!!!

Ok so, Paula Dean's recipe never fails...Raspberry Cinnamon Rolls

Ingredients

Dough:

• 1/4-ounce package yeast
• 1/2 cup warm water
• 1/2 cup scalded milk
• 1/4 cup sugar
• 1/3 cup butter or shortening
• 1 teaspoon salt
• 1 egg
• 3 1/2 to 4 cups all-purpose flour

Filling:

• 2 cups raspberries
• 3/4 cup sugar, plus more for pan
• 2 tablespoons ground cinnamon
• bring to boil over low heat, remove
• Glaze:

• 4 tablespoons butter
• 2 cups powdered sugar
• 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
• 3 to 6 tablespoons hot water

Ok so Babaloo's Bourbon EggNog Cake

EGG NOG BUTTER CAKE

1/2 c. softened butter 2 lg. eggs 1 tsp. vanilla extract 2 1/2 tsp. baking powder 1 1/2 c. egg nog (you can make your own) 1 1/2 c. sugar 1 tsp. rum extract 3 c. sifted cake flour 3/4 tsp. salt 2 tbsp. water ~mix bake in loaf pan for about 40 min at 350 Icing! 2 tbsp. Karo 2 3/4 c. powdered sugar 1 stick butter 1 1/2 tsp. bourbon (the good stuff, it will make a difference) Plop on top of cake while cake is warm and let it run down the sides

In Memory of Roy E. Disney

Roy Edward Disney, son of Disney Studios co-founder Roy O. Disney, and nephew of Walt Disney, passed away Dec. 16 at Hoag Memorial Hospital Presbyterian in Newport Beach, Calif., following a yearlong battle with stomach cancer. He was 79 years old.

Disney played a key role in the revitalization of The Walt Disney Company and Disney’s animation legacy. He was associated with the Company for more than 56 years, and from
1984-2003, served as vice chairman of the Company’s board of directors and chairman of the Studio’s Animation department. In recent years, he held the title of director emeritus and consultant for the Company.

Ok, So Chocolate Chip Cookies

Taffy's not the only Co-Pilot who bakes - I made Nestle' Toll House Chocolate Chip Cookies last night - woo hoo!

Ok so...you will slap whoever gives these to you...I give you "Peppermint Brownies"

Brownies~

1/2 c. butter
1 c. sugar
4 eggs

1 1/2 cup of All-Purpose Flour
Pinch of salt
16 oz. can Hershey syrup

Cream butter, sugar and eggs. Add flour, salt and syrup. Bake at 350 degrees for 30 minutes in 9"x13" pan.

Icing~

3 c. 10X powdered sugar
6 tbsp. butter
1 tbsp. milk (more if needed)
2 tsp. peppermint extract
1/4 tsp. vanilla
Few drops green food coloring (if you want)

Top with 2 cups crushed andes mints!!!

Ok so...keep arms and legs in the ride at all times... literally

While at Universal Studios today (apparently there are other theme parks in florida besides Disney, who knew) We rode the Incredible Hulk Coaster, and this was the sign as we boarded...
