Ok, So WHO'S In It? Well, How Will They Tell When She's Sad? She Can't Move Her Face....

According to the Hollywood Reporter:

Aaron Eckhart is in negotiations to star opposite Nicole Kidman in "Rabbit Hole," a drama that John Cameron Mitchell has come aboard to direct.

Kidman, who is producing through her Blossom Films banner, initially set up the project at Fox Searchlight. It is now being co-financed by Olympus Pictures and Odd Lot Entertainment, which will co-produce as well. A May start is being eyed.

The story, which David Lindsay-Abaire adapted from his own stage play, traces the life of a happily married couple that is disrupted by an unexpected tragedy and the emotional journey they must undertake to regain happiness.

Eckhart will play Kidman's husband, who is trying to hold on to the memory of his dead son while dealing with his emotionally removed wife.

Per Saari is also producing via Blossom, along with Leslie Urdang and Dean Vanech of Olympus and Gigi Pritzker of Odd Lot. Bill Lischak and Linda McDonough will exec produce for Odd Lot.

The film will be sold at the Cannes film market, with CAA, which brokered the financing deal, handling domestic sales, and Odd Lot handling international.

Mitchell, repped by CAA and Jackson Group Entertainment, last directed "Shortbus," which tackled sexuality among New Yorkers.

CAA-repped Eckhart has just started shooting "The Rum Diary" in Puerto Rico with Johnny Depp and is attached to star in "Battle: Los Angeles" for Columbia. "Brand New Day," in which he stars with Jennifer Aniston, is being released in September.

Taffy and I loved this play when our dear friend Kevin Bee directed it last year in Orlando. But Nicole Kidman? Really? Why don't they just get Renee Zellwiger (sp) to play her sister, and Faye Dunaway to play the mom....none of their faces have moved in 10 years at least.

We'll be sure to take Lola Lafayette opening night to this film...she's a huge fan of La Kidman. I've heard story has changed for the film, however. The movie version takes place in London, and during the climax everyone eats soup.

(Inside jokes are fun).
