Ok, So Blog A Day, Number Legal To Drink - Updates

1.) I got rid of a bunch of the porn sites I follow on Tumblr, and I'm amazed how much more I like it (I started by saying TONS of the porn sites, but it was really like, 3 - TONS sounds like I can't walk past my computer without ripping my underwear off and grabbing whatever oil based product I have within my reach.  It really was just a couple of sites, I swear.  There are still some annoying aspects to it (the pokemon thing?  No, gurl.  No.) but I can ignore them a little more easily when I'm not distracted by the uncut cock of a Corbin Fisher model hitting me in the face.

2.) Speaking of uncut, we received a couple of letters about foreskin after our discussion about it, and the fine folks over at Foul Monkeys even devoted some of a recent episode to us.  We started to bring it up on another episode, but, surprisingly, we were distracted.  At this point, I think it's safe to say that we definitely made some people laugh, but we also hurt a couple of feelings, and to anyone who we may have offended, we are truly sorry.  It's a foreign concept to us (despite FMs wondering how Rodan and I could have lived in Florida so long and not had more experience with them.) and we make fun of things we don't understand.  But we have been schooled on it now, and this will be our final word on it (for the foreseeable future, at least).  Thanks to those of you who wrote in with your stories/education/opinions.  We valued every word you guys wrote.

3.) Lego Batman 3?  Slightly better, the campaign is surprisingly short, and now I am trying to get all the extra stuff.  I was pleasantly surprised at some of the characters you can get, but I'm also frustrated with just how much you have to back track and go around to various planets to pick up stuff.  Especially when those planets are "Super Mario World" style and it's easy to get lost.  Again, if this is the worst problem I have......

4.) Still sick.  It sucks, especially when I didn't get to go to my patient's funeral today.  More on that later.  I will be living it up momentarily when I do a shot of NyQuil and call it a day.

5.) What do we think of this year's Thanksgiving Mix Tape?  I will be posting what my OTHER songs were from my other list, but one 90s song that almost made it was this one.  I was apparently an angry youth in 1992.

6.)Actually, NyQuil sounds really good right now! Night, sluts!

Ok, So Blog A Day, Number 16 - A Review: Batman Lego 3 (the first few chapters)

I have been very vocal in my love of the Lego games for the PS3 - The first two Batman games, as well as Marvel Super Heroes were fun, yet challenging, with lots of extra easter eggs for comic fans like myself.  The last Batman, in particular, had a pretty good size cast of extra characters you could earn and a replay-ability that made it SO much fun to go back and earn items to help you get around Gotham, earn extra points, move faster, etc.  So, when they announced last year there would be a THIRD Lego Batman game, well, you could see where I would be SUPER stoked!

The game came out on Tuesday, and I got it at Best Buy the day it came out - a rarity for me.  I got home, put it in and began to feel what I can only describe as a disappointment.  The game has it moments, don't get me wrong.  I was also SUPER excited (see what I did there?) to see that there would be 150 playable characters you could earn, some of them kind of obscure (BatCow, anyone?).  The problem with the game is that you start off pretty much trapped in the BatCave for the first few chapters with only Alfred as a character you can jump to.  Eventually, they show a few other members of the Justice League, but getting to PLAY as those characters take a while, and when you DO get to play with them, it feels like there is little to no variety in what they can do, or Batman and Robin obtain special suits within those first few missions that allow them to do just about all of the same things your variables would do.

And THAT'S if you can figure the fucking thing out.  At times, you have to enter this weird "TRON" world as Robin, and the puzzles that first night were so frustrating, I turned the game off because 1.) It was in the best interest of my controller and flat screen, and 2.) Because I was playing it for the first time as everyone else, there was no sense looking online to see what I was doing wrong.  Two days later I found my answer.  The problem is, playing today for a while, it felt like all I was doing was going to YouTube to find answers on how to solve these puzzles.  With Batman and Robin, you have to earn the variable suits needed to complete puzzles.  But if you have Lex Luthor or the Joker - guess what?  You have those suits already, but no one TELLS you that.  I found out by accident after wandering around a mission for 15 minutes and smashing everything in sight.

The voice acting in this so far is disappointing as well - Based on Will Arnett's portrayal of Batman in The Lego Movie, it feels like they have reduced this character to the same asshole that he played in that film.  In Lego Batman 2, there was a level of arrogance, but in this one he's just a jerk.  And Wonder Woman, my favorite character, is very husky voiced and sounds angry all the time (and that's BEFORE she's hit with the Red Lantern beam).

I, of course, will keep playing it.  Babaloo reminded me today (in between my cursing and screaming at the TV), that I get frustrated with all the Lego Games, then I end up loving them.  This one feels different though - it feels like they are giving us tons of toys in the sandbox and none at all at the same time.

Hearing the Wonder Woman theme play when she flies is kind of cool, though - not going to lie.

Ok, So Blog A Day, Number Nine - Infamous: First Light, A Review

So, as I mentioned last week, I finished both the hero and villain sides for Infamous: Second Son for the PS4.  I loved the games so much, I opted to purchase the DLC for the game, First Light.  This game is a prequel of sorts for the game, choosing to focus on Abigail "Fetch" Walker, a Conduit with neon based powers.  She spends much of the game looking for her brother Brent, who has gotten into some bad dealings with Russian drug dealers.  Fetch tells her story to Brook Augustine aka The Big Bad in I:SS.

The game has many of the same mechanics of the it's predecessor.  Walker has many of the same powers Deslin does, with some slight modifications.  The side missions are similar in theory, but there are also races that Fetch must do to gain "lumens," or points she can spend in the store to increase and/or modify her power.  The cut scenes in this are MUCH better in many ways to I:SS, and I LOVED those cutscenes.  It's also pretty easy to build up your orbital drop type power over time - just blast any bad guys you can find.  I think my main problem with the game is it feels very short (about 3-4 hours, not including all the extra stuff, but I did a LOT of the extra stuff.).  The acting is ok, but Fetch's odd New York accent (in Seattle, mind you) is a little off putting at times.  And what is with video games and their use of drugs to tell stories.  Both this game and Batman's Arkham games have segments where the main character has been drugged.  It's frustrating to play (which I suppose is the point), and can feel like filler.

If you loved the Infamous games, I would definitely recommend this.  Also, if you're thinking about getting the Infamous games, and want to try this out first (you don't need the main game to play this one), then I would say it will give you a definite taste of the world of InFamous.  If you thought the games were ok, I would say save your 15 dollars.

Ok, So Blog A Day Post Numbah 2! Infamous: Second Son - A Review

I love the first two Infamous games for the PS3.  Both games where in a select few games where I have played them all the way through more than once (The only other one is Star Wars: Knights of The Old Republic I and II.)  After we bought our PS4 a couple of weeks ago, we both selected games and, knowing Second Son is a PS4 exclusive, I knew that had to be my first game for my new console.

The game takes place 7 years after the events of Infamous 2, and you play as Delsin Rowe, an Akomish tagger who develops the ability to absorb other "Conduits'" (super humans or mutants) powers.  After his tribe is attacked by a task force assigned to bring in all Conduits, Delsin heads to Seattle to find the leader of the army to obtain her powers and use them to heal the tribe.  Along the way, he develops multiple power sets, starting with the ability to control smoke.  You must make decisions along the way towards the path of a hero or an oppressor. What you decide will encourage the people of Seattle to cheer you on or fear you.  In the end, your decisions take you on two completely different paths from which there can be no turning back.

I enjoyed the game a lot - I will say I liked playing as a hero more than a villain for the story line, but as far as powers and ease of the game, evil is the way to go.  When you're a bad guy, you don't care what you hit, who you hurt, or how you get from point A to point B.  Playing as a hero involves more strategy and trying to find ways to beat the bad guys without hurting passers by or damage property.  When you're a baddie, who gives a shit - just keep throwing those bombs and hope for an Orbital Drop (The super power in the game that you have to earn through defeating baddies.  The endings are completely different for each "path" from satisfying (hero) to disturbing (villain).

What impressed me the most with this game, game play aside, is the talent that went into both the voice acting and model rendering.  Well known video games voice over actors Troy Baker (Delsin) and Travis Willingham (Reggie) have a genuine rapport as brothers in the game - it makes sense that the two are close friends in real life.  The two were used as models for their characters in the game, and the detail in which both characters act in the game is beautifully rendered.  Another standout actor is Karen Austin as Betty.  The PS4 gives realism to these characters' movements, and it is noticed by the player.  Seattle looks amazing as well.  The city doesn't quite have the repetitive feel that Empire City and New Marais had in the other Infamous games.  Lots of people walking around, lots of different sounds  It is easy to allow yourself to become submerged into this game.

Orbital Drop!!!!!

Game play is surprisingly easy, with the ability of the controller to allow you to have multiple options for various powers.  I don't want to give away what the powers are, but I will say there is some slight repetition in the abilities for each power set (one travel, one long ranged, one short ranged, etc).  There are plenty of side missions you can do if you don't want to follow the main (short) storyline, and while fun, they can become slightly repetitive over time.  There is also a couple of very hard boss fights that are frustrating in that you have to REALLY think outside the box to figure out what's going on, when a lot of the battling has been generally easy before it.  (the middle boss battle between on the bridge comes to mind - if you don't know what you're doing, it becomes very easy to want to throw your controller across the living room.)  Lighting in the game can be very difficult to maneuver as well, with lots of sunrises/sets that, while beautiful to look at, can block your field of vision and cause some damage from a D.U.P soldier coming out you with his gun locked and loaded.

If you have a PS4, I would strongly suggest this game.  It's fun, relatively easy and beautiful to look at.  Babaloo watched me play the game on numerous occasions.  Give it a try.

PS.. Yes, I will be playing First Light, the downloadable content for this game.  But that's a post for another day.

Ok, So A Taylor Kind Of Video Game With A Taffy Kind Of Sensebility

From the folks who brought you Red Dead Redemption
L.A Noire is an interactive detective story set in the classic noir period of the late 1940s. L.A. Noire blends action, detection and complex storytelling and draws players into an open-ended challenge to solve a series of gruesome murders.

Set in a perfectly recreated Los Angeles before freeways, with a post-war backdrop of corruption, drugs and jazz, L.A. Noire will truly blend cinema and gaming.
Any video game trailer that uses a muted brass in their trailer will have Taffy watching.

Ok, So Dammit I Need A Date, Rockstar!!!

From Playstationlifestyle.net...

Despite releasing back in May, Red Dead Redemption still remains one of the most popular titles on the PlayStation 3 thanks to the sheer amount of support pushing the game forward. Thanks to Rockstar’s ingenious plan of outlining all the downloadable content ahead of time, interest in the game was not only propelled during the announcement, but also for the months to come when the details for each individual pack are revealed. Thankfully, New Austin’s zombie apocalypse is upon us.

The official details to Red Dead Redemption’s “Undead” DLC pack have been revealed to the masses. For starters, John Marston returns as the protagonist in an all-new single player campaign revolving around an infectious zombie plague. According to Rockstar:

“The Undead Nightmare Pack will feature an entirely new mostly single-player campaign that follows John Marston as he tries to find a cure for the highly infectious zombie plague that has spread across the frontier. In addition to this epic new single-player adventure, The Undead Nightmare Pack also features brand new gameplay mechanics, weapons, zombie animals, mythical creatures and even a brand new secret location.”

In addition to the new campaign, the Undead Nightmare Pack will also introduce new multiplayer gameplay elements. Judging from other retail releases that deal with zombies, all signs point to some sort of Call of Duty: World at War-esque survival mode. In any case, the Undead Nightmare Pack will hit the PlayStation Store this autumn for $9.99

Can't. Fucking. Wait.

Ok, So I'll Be Busy In November...

(From Newsarama.com)
In a somewhat quiet and press-release-free announcement, Sony Online Entertainment has revealed to IGN that DCU Online finally has a release date. The in-development title has been shown off with countless new character models and screenshots over the course of the last 2 years or so, and will be hitting shelves in November 2010.

The massively multiplayer online role playing game will see players create their own heroes and villains to fight alongside and against the characters from DC Comics’s superhero universe. More details on the release are promised at E3 2010, and we’ll be there to get the latest for you.

(The only thing I have to say about this is...former Dial H Members ASSEMBLE!!)

Ok, So I Know PiMC Is A "Guitar Hero" Family....

...but don't think for a second I haven't thought about crossing over for Rock Band: The Beatles. It looks amazing, I played a demo over the weekend in Best Buy, and it is getting RAVE reviews! Ugh! Taffy, we may have chose incorrectly last year! Thoughts?

Ok, So Taylor's Thought For The Day (That is Sure to Piss Some People Off)

Is it wrong that I was more excited about finally getting a Wii than playing a Wii?
We do have it hooked up to the Wi-Fi, though - I'll be posting my Wii number (or whatever it's called) so that I can exchange my official Taylor and Babaloo Miis with all of you real soon.

Ok, So Another Reason For Me To Get A PS3.....

another great game that I played on the PS2 was "Beyond Good And Evil." It had a great storyline and beautiful graphics, and the ending defintely left open the idea of a sequel. Unfortunately, the game didn't sell very well, but those of us who have played it held out for a second chapter.

Looks like UbiSoft heard our prayers.....

Ok, So Having Moved On From Kingdom Hearts...

Now I'm all about the Marvel: Ultimate Alliance. It's a RPG from the people who did both the X-Men games I used to play on XBOX. This time, you are pretty much any of the big wigs from the Marvel Universe. Being a big gay girl, most of my teams of four consist of the female characters, (Spider Woman is a bad ass!) fighting characters like Killer Shark, The Winter Soldier, and Dr. Doom.
Taffy's brain just shut down.

Anyway, is anyone else playing this, or has played it? Do you like it?

Ok, So I'm Sliiiiiightly Obsessed....

Here is the opening video for Kingdom Hearts 2. I'm kinda bummed it's over - thinking about playing KH 1 again, but opted for Ultimate Alliance instead.

And even if you are not a big fan of the video games (Taffy), this video is beautiful to watch, and it has Goofy and Donald in it, so it can't be all bad, right?

And here is the ending of the game (Spoilers for those of you who will play it)

And here is the secret video on the end of the game - a kinda trailer for KH 3 (thanks to Nessa for pointing me in this direction)

Ok, So It Is 3:12 AM....

...and I just finished Kingdom Hearts 2.

Gotta say I was a little disappointed with the ending. I know that Nessa and Mr. Bee played it, so I'll ask them - what the hell happened? I'm so fucking confused. It seemed like it was going to go on forever. All I really did was hack and slash at the boss and use my magic spells for heal only. And how about dropping that Malificent and Pete storyline at the end. They kinda tacked them on like they forgot about them.

And was it just me, or did Sora and Riku act like they were going to make out at a moment's notice for the last half hour of the game?

That being said, you know I'll get a PS3 to play KH3 when it comes out in 2065.

WHY am I still up!?!?

Ok, So Everytime I Think I'm Out.....

So, I am completely immersed in my PS2 yesterday and today, catching up on Kingdom Hearts 2. I was a HUUUUUGE fan of the first Kingdom Hearts game back in 2001, so when the sequel came out in 2005, I bought it the day it came out. I played it for about 8 hours, and put it away, where it collected dust for the last 2+ years. Last week, I was looking for something to do (i.e. distract myself from getting shit done around here), and decided to pop the game back in. I just started over from the beginning, figuring it had been so long I had forgotten important story points.
Let me just tell you one thing. When a game takes THREE HOURS of gameplay just to get to the TITLE screen, you know you are in for an indepth game.

For those of you not in the know, KH and KH2 are games that are a joint venture between Square Ennix (makers of the Final Fantasy games) and Disney. The short, least confusing explanation of the game is as such: You are a young boy, Sora, who, along with Donald Duck and Goofy, have to run through all the Disney worlds (Agrabah, 100 Acre Woods, The Beast's Castle, Atlantica, etc.) looking for items that will help you to find King Mickey and Kairi, who is Sora's love. KH2 expanded on the places you go, including not only newer animated movies (Mulan), but also some of the live action movies, including Pirates of the Carribean and Tron. There is even a segment where you go back to be in 1929's Steamboat Willy, and the whole part of the game is in black and white, with grainy sound for effect. The whole time you are fighting dark chracters and classic Disney Villians, including Malificent, Hades from Hercules, Shen Hu from Mulan, and Captain Barrbosa from PotC. Just about all of the original actors from the movies do the voices for the characters, and you also have some welll known names doing the voices of the new characters as well, including Hayden Paintierre (or however you spell her name) as Kairi and Hayley Joel Osmet as Sora.

Anyway, that's what I will probably be doing when I am not catching up on notes for the next three days before I head to Philly. Who are you to judge me!?!?

Ok, So Animal Crossing For The DS...

Ok, So Taffy Has A Side Job.....And They Made A Video Game About it...

Here is the trailer to "Wet" a new game for the consoles coming out this fall. Hot.
....And yes, that's a heart in the cooler with the beer....

Ok, So, A Master's Degree in Psychology....

Isn't worth shit when you're playing Brain Age 2. Apparently, I'm a moron with the age of an 80 year old because I can't get the stupid DS to recognize when I am saying "Rock," "Paper," or "Scissors." When I did the daily brain test or whatever (at 2 in the morning, mind you), I did manage to get to the brain of a 37 year old.....Also, It's a game for children, but I can't figure out how to get Luke Skywalker past all the big quicksand pit in Star Wars: Legos II - The Original Trilogy. Does anyone play this? Can you help me? Am I a moron? (Again, Taffy, shut it.)
