Ok so...we have power...not really...but you know...
According to E! Online, Disney wanted to trademark the team's name to use in a future war-based television series, and turned in the necessary paperwork just two days after the mission. However, it turns out the Navy wasn't too happy with Disney's plans.
According to the Wall Street Journal, the Navy responded to Disney's actions by filing their own trademark paper for the terms 'SEAL Team' and 'Navy SEALs' on May 13 in order to protect itself.
The Navy claimed in the filing that the phrases denote "membership in an organization of the Department of the Navy that develops and executes military missions involving special operations strategy, doctrine, and tactics."
Disney officials said they withdrew their trademark paperwork in deference to the Navy.
"We are fully committed to protecting our trademark rights," Commander Danny Hernandez, the chief Navy spokesman, said in statement on Wednesday...and the International podcast "Pod Is My Copilot" expressed it's displeasure, so you know Disney took it seriously.

Ok, So They Done It Again!
A while back the folks at Disney did a morning to night video of the Magic Kingdom, filmed in a way that made things look as though they were miniatures. They did it again with EPCOT. Cool Stuff...I still love World Showcase, even though they don't have any good rides.....

Ok, So Thanks Tara!!
Thanks to listener Tara for sending me this very cool vide that involves "tilt-shifting." I don't know what it means, but it makes for a very neat effect. Watch it all the way to the end. Ironically - Tara sent us this video about an hour and after Babaloo and I returned from experiencing most of this at the Magic Kingdom. Also, according to the corresponding article, this was all filmed in one day, October 1st, 2009, on the park's birthday.
update: Tilt-shift means "the use of camera movements on small- and medium-format cameras, and sometimes specifically refers to the use of tilt for selective focus, often for simulating a miniature scene." Makes sense when you watch the video!

Ok, So More Disney Details....
Got to admit, this all looks pretty cool....but why did they cut off the video just as they were getting ready to talk about my favorite park - Tomorrowland?!?!
Ok, So Just In Time For Me To Renew My Annual Pass...

ORLANDO, Fla. — Disney executives are planning the largest expansion in the history of Walt Disney World's Magic Kingdom in central Florida.
The development will nearly double the size of Fantasyland and include a new, lavish ride based on the Little Mermaid. Walt Disney Parks and Resorts Chairman Jay Rasulo made the announcement Saturday.
Analysts predict it will re-ignite travel to Orlando, which has lagged in the global recession.
Disney also plans to update Star Tours, the Star Wars-themed ride in Disney's Hollywood Studios. It will debut in 2011. The Fantasyland overhaul will be complete by 2013. Disney declined to say how much it will spend on the projects.
Disney's parks contribute about a third of the giant entertainment company's revenue.

Ok, So Let's Wash Away Some Of The Hate With A Nice Little Story About Trees and Polar Bears...

LOS ANGELES – Walt Disney Studios is turning box-office cash from its nature documentary "Earth" into seed money to plant trees in the rain forest.
Disney had announced it would plant one tree in Brazil's endangered Atlantic rain forest for every viewer who saw the movie during its first week. According to Disney, the box-office tally hit $16.1 million, which translates to 2.7 million trees.
The trees are being planted by the Nature Conservancy, which is trying to reforest 2.5 million acres in the rain forest.
"Earth" is narrated by James Earl Jones and follows a year in the lives of three families of polar bears, elephants and humpback whales.

Ok so, Happy Birthday to us!!

NEW YORK - Walt Disney Parks and Resorts on Thursday announced a new promotion to admit visitors free on their birthdays next year.
"Every guest gets in free to one of our parks on their birthday in 2009," Jay Rasulo, chairman of Walt Disney Parks and Resorts, said at a news conference in Manhattan.
Visitors will have to show valid identification and proof of birthdate to qualify. Details are available at http://www.disneyparks.com, where birthday visits can be registered in advance.
Mike Lynn, a professor of consumer behavior at Cornell University's School of Hotel Administration, said admitting guests free to the parks on their birthdays could very well make money.
"The only thing they lose is the revenue from those people whose birthdays it is who might have come anyway," he said. "Having an extra customer in the park doesn't cost them anything. Those people are still a benefit because they have to buy food and drinks, and their friends and family are accompanying them."
The birthday offer is part of a larger Disney promotion announced Thursday called "What will you celebrate?" It includes a 30-city tour with public events featuring Disney costumed characters, beginning in Minneapolis on Sept. 25 and ending in Phoenix in February. Disney will also start running "What will you celebrate?" TV ads featuring kids blowing out candles and brides in limousines.
In addition, the parks will offer buttons to wear that identify guests with phrases such as "Just Married," "Just Graduated," and "First Visit."
"Our goal is to mark the special moments in your life in a way that your family will remember forever," Rasulo said.
Peter Yesawich, a consultant on lifestyle trends, said at the Disney news conference that Americans often arrange vacations around personal milestones such as anniversaries and birthdays. He called the phenomenon "celebration vacations."
Miley Cyrus, star of the Disney show "Hannah Montana," plans to celebrate her 16th birthday at Disneyland in Anaheim, Calif., Oct. 5.

Ok, So May God Have Mercy on The City of Orlando....

It was a total last minute decision, but a fun one, I think. Shoot, half the fun will be annoying the children with our ADD-like iPod listening enjoyment. Sadly, those of you who have podcasts will not be listened to in the car, as you are mostly innapropriate for small ears. (Which is why we love you, of course)
