So, I had to ask my German speaking boyfriend about the Dachshund thing, and he said to be pronounced the way Taffy says it, it would need to be spelled Deutsch hound.
Eu gives the "oy" sound in German, and ch gives the "k" sound. So because its Dachshund its pronounced "docks-hound" or more American = "dock-sund."
So apparently, linguistically, Taffy was wrong! Point for Taylor yay!
