Ok so, GOD BLESS THEM!!!!!

SAN FRANCISCO (June 16) - Dozens of gay couples were married Monday after a landmark ruling making California the second state to allow same-sex nuptials went into effect.

At least five county clerks around the state extended their hours to issue marriage licenses, and many same-sex couples got married on the spot.

Del Martin, 87, left, and Phyllis Lyon, 84, who have been a couple for 55 years, were among the first same-sex partners to legally exchange marriage vows in California Monday. Marriage licenses for gay couples were officially issued after the state supreme court overturned a ban on such unions.

I live in Massachusetts, the first state to legalize same-sex marriage, and seeing California join us is a wonderful thing. Various "equality groups", like MassEquality here in my state have been strategizing on how to spread GLBT equality nationwide. I do believe we should move cautiously until the presidential election is over; advancing same-sex rights seem to scare a lot of people and we wouldn't want to trigger a Republican backlash that puts McCain in office. Just the same, if we fail to act and he gets in anyway then so much valuable time will have been lost. It's a difficult situation to approach at best.
