To answer several of your question, "How did you do that and not own tennis shoes?? 

The Answer is The ECCO Performance Yucatan Sandal.  They are so ugly and I fought buying them for ever but I needed something and they are super comfy!!!!I highly recommend them for any one who is on there feet all day or who runs around outside alot.
