Soooooooooo, lets play a little math game, shall we...
1 80lb Yellow Lab + 5 lbs of M&M's = Emergency Room!!!
So, tuesday night our beloved lab decided to go crazy while we were all at a Christmas Program and knock over a large jar of M&M's. Five pounds to be precise. The glass jar broke, and she procedded to eat everything, with the exception of the metal lid.
Wrong!
So when we came home to find the mess, and her completely strung out on chocolate we rushed her to the doctor. They couldn't pump her stomach (because of the glass) and they had to do an I.V and then....a MANUAL extraction of her, well...poopy.
After they kept her under observation for about twelve hours, she got to come home. All swollen and lathargic (like Taylor after Starbucks) and she is now sleeping.
They said that that level of chocolate could easily have killed her if she had gotten there later. I am watching her breathe, and wanting very much to kill her myself for scaring me so bad.
I am currently thinking of ways to punish her...I see a Mrs. Claus outfit in her future...

OH MY GOODNESS!
I have two Greyhounds and so I know how you feel about your dog. It would scare me to think that one or both of mine had gotten into some chocolate...for two reasons:
1-Because it could kill them.
2-Because it was MY chocolate!
Glad that you were a good "MOMMY" and did the right thing to bring her in to the emergency clinic. I'm thinking that she probably feels quite bad enough right now for what she did, however, it certainly would make you feel better if she were to be dressed up in a pink bunny costume, or in a cat outfit, or anything spandex.

oooh! Bad dog!
And yet, looking at that picture, I can't resist the urge to just hug her and squeeze her and call her George.
Please let me be there with a video camera when you dress up like Mrs. Claus and she leaps up and grabs you by the neck with her teeth.......That's comedy gold, right there.
Very glad she's feeling better. And I'm glad to know I won't be tempted by MnMs when I come to your house anymore.
Glad to her that everything is ok. Our greyhound decided a few weeks ago that she REALLY likes those chocolate covered toffee candies from IKEA. It's all fun and games until you start pooping aluminum foil!!
Jason,
Love Greyhounds!!!
My two are from the dog track and are 9 and 12 years old.
I'll have to put a picture of them on my blog sometime.

Glad she is doing better...I would be a complete wreck if one of mine did that...
OH! I'm so glad she's doing ok. How scary. And yes, I would also be plotting revenge.
