...and I am JUST getting home from work.I had a normal day, with school visits and a lovely lunch at Cheddar's with a co worker. Then I went back to the office where I "shopped" for Xmas gifts for two of the cutest kids I have ever worked with from the 2000+ toys we got as a donation. (The younger of the two wants UNO cards, and I was able to find a package of them. Yay me.) Then we had our annual "Remembering Our Own" Memorial Service for staff that has died in the past year. Yeah, not so much fun. In fact, myself and another coworker were trying to figure out how to be on NEXT year's list by asking each other to kill us via text messaging on phones. (I got her to giggle out loud first - again, yay me.)
So tonight was another specialty group, "Coping with The Holidays," for famililes who are going through their first holiday season without a loved one. Myself and another counselor met with the parents, while two other counselors met with the kids. It was an intense group, lots of crying (not me, I'm a robot.) and laughing. During the group, I get a phone call.
See, I'm on call this week, so that means that if someone dies (or is getting ready to die), then I
get the call to go out and support the family. So, as we are finishing up the group, I get called to go see a family who is dealing with the imminent death of the patient, and was RIGHT by Taffy's house at a Nursing Home. So, I go out, spend some time with the family, talk with the crying adult granddaughter, then leave. I get home, where I start to check e-mails, then get ANOTHER call to go BACK out to near where Taffy lives (but an ALF this time), where I am meeting with the sister of a patient who died. She lives in the apartment across the street, and was a lovely little woman (literally - she couldn't have been taller than 4'10".) We talked about her sister, she asked me to do part of a rosary with her (talk about out of practice - The priests at St. Agnes would be disappointed in me), and then I came home. Where I am now.

At least I was able to enjoy wearing a jacket tonight on my way to my second visit. It is in the upper 50s here right now, and I am fucking loving this weather. Finally, Fall is here in Florida.

Again, we do not sleep...you could have came by...stood outside with a raised boom box while Peter Gabrielle played. Tank would have been touched!
I am glad you got home safe though...
Again, you say these things like they aren't going to happen one day....
Because, "In Your Eyes...The Light, the Heat...I am complete..."
