Ok so...Cabbage Rolls for everyone!

So today and tomarrow are the Waynesville Sauerkraut Festival. They have a live cam, if anyone wants to see about 400,000 people cram themselves into three blocks of villiage and eat their weight in cabbage!!!

How does a village decide to have a festival dedicated to pickeled cabbage...well...glad you asked...

In 1970 (also the year I was born) As the Waynesville Retail Merchants were planning to hold a sidewalk sale, it was suggested that a sauerkraut dinner be served as part of the event. With this decision, the Ohio Sauerkraut Festival was born.

That fall, on October 3, 1970, Waynesville hosted its first Sauerkraut Festival, serving 528 pounds of sauerkraut to approximately 1500 visitors. Entertainment included an antique car parade, German bands and folk dancers, checkers and spelling bee contests, and of course, prizes for the largest head of cabbage and the best homemade sauerkraut. Booths were set up on Main Street to sell kraut-containing foods (including sauerkraut ice cream), fall harvest produce, and display the antiques, arts, and crafts of a few vendors.

Now you can get everything from brownies, pizza, punch and sundays all with sauerkraut!

Wow - there isn´t a Sauerkrautfest here in Germany itself that I would know of... very impressive :)
To honour your magnificent podcast I will open now a can of Sauerkraut and listen to your latest show. You are hilarious and you guys have very sexy voices - (yes, Mrs Taffy as well, although I am not an expert)

Best regards from the craddle of all sauerkrautfests
