So, I do have some good news. After doing some research, I can "authorize" a new computer (up to five of them, in fact) and transfer all of my purchased iTunes music from one computer to another. This is good because it will give me a chance to back up everything on disc as well as the external hard drive.
I also worked on my backyard today (No, that doesn't mean what you think it does, Taffy). Unfortunately, it cost me 107.00 dollars to do that as I broke a new sink that my soon to be ex roommate had purchased for his new place in the process trying to get the lawnmower out of the garage. The little bit of the backyard that I did (i.e. the part I look at the most) looks a lot better. Not the best mowing it has ever had, but considering a friend who was at my house recently asked me if I was growing strawberries out in the backyard, and I had to tell her, "uh, no, that's just weeds...." I'm pleased with out how it looks. I'll work on the front yard either tomorrow or later on today after the sun starts to set. (Yeah, Florida is hot.) Today's jaunt in the backyard was the first time I have mowed a lawn probably since I was 18 and left my family home for college.
I totally forgot to talk about Free Comic Book Day yesterday. The place I normally go, Emerald City Comics took part in the National Free Comic Book Day. You could walk into any comic book store and grab up to three free specially marked comics. It was pretty cool - I did find one title that I may actually look into continuing to read once the next issue comes out (i.e. I was sucked in.) I did manage to get some new trade paperbacks, as they were half off. I have read two of the three so far....
FABLES: Fables is set in a world where all the fairy tale characters (Snow White, Big Bad Wolf, Jack (of the Beanstalk) ) all live in hiding amongst us "mundanes." They were cast out of the magical forests by a "Big Bad," to quote Buffy, and now reside in New York in a secret community run by Old King Cole. It's NOT a kids book by any means of the imagination. I really loved the trade paperback, and will continue to read this one.
RUNAWAYS: The general premise of this book (which I got in "pocket book" format (i.e. a comic that was in Reader's Digest size....) is a group of kids who don't generally like each other but have to spend time together because their parents do, find out that all the parents are actually Super Villains. So, they...well, run away from their families, discovering they have powers and abilities along the way. I enjoyed this as well, and considering you can get 5-6 issues of this in digest form for about 8 bucks (or, as I did yesterday because of the sale, 4 bucks), I am thinkin I may want to keep up with this one...
Finally, I got STRANGERS IN PARADISE (also in TPB Pocket Size), but it is a digest - 16 issues in ONE book - it looks like a paperback! It has approx 370 pages in it, so I plan on reading it when I have some serious time to sit and enjoy it. All I know about it is that it is about a couple of friends that meet 10 years after high school or something. I have never heard anything negative about this title and plan on checking it out some more.
I am still not sure about this apple computer. It's very pretty, and has lots of bells and whistles, but I am almost wondering if the bells and whistles are stuff I would actually use. I feel very torn on what to do....I have also found that certain...ahem...videos do not play on this thing. I am wondering what else this all can't do....I need to get the microphone situation worked out as well. I tried talking to Rodan on Skype last night, and I sounded, and this is a quote here, like I was, "sitting on the toilet in the bathroom yelling to a microphone sitting in the hall." Lovely. I have found recording software for a mac conversation, and it is only 15 bucks (like the other one) so I may download it and play around with this just to see how things go with garage band. Even working on this post is a little difficult, as things like bold and italics are not an option, unless I want to try and do HTML by hand....hey, what do you know, it worked.... I still have over a week before I need to make a final final decison....I will take back the Vista computer today or tomorrow - I get all my money back when I take that back, so worse case scenario, if I decide AGAINST apple, I can just go and get a new computer again at BB - no harm, no foul.
I hope to get my printer to work, but I am not sure how I go about doing that.
I'm stinky, and it's already 1:30 - how did THAT happen?!?! Need to hit the shower.
