So, there may not be an episode 9.
Well, that's not entirely true - there WAS an episode 9, taped last night. I have the edited podcast on my hard drive to prove it.
Problem is, my computer died tonight. At least, I am 99 percent sure it died. I have no idea how to fix it. It was very loud, as it usually is, and while I was finishing editing, and checking e-mail, suddenly, everything locked up. I couldn't get anywhere with control-alt-delete, so I did a hard exit, holding the power button. Now all I get is the choices re: safe mode, and no matter what I pick, after a few seconds of the windows xp intro screen, it goes back into the safe mode choices. I have tried letting it cool down, I had Drum Riley look at it - nothing. And, because this is the way things tend to go for me, the restore disc is nowhere to be found.
I am most upset because I have pictures and music that I have bought over the last few months that are, for all intents and purposes, gone. Luckily, I had bought an external hard drive, so much of my stuff from before Dec of 06 is on there. But there is still stuff from iTunes, and the original raw podcast stuff, and two years of e-mails and everything that may be...gone.
I am going to investigate what I can do about it, though I'm sure this will end in Best Buy with me buying a new tower. Fuck.
one step forward, two steps back.
To say I'm livid right now would be an understatement. I'm probably not going to get any sleep tonight.
PS- I am writing this on my work laptop, so until I get this other situation figured out, I can at least check in here.
