So, tonight, Rodan and I hit Georgie's Alibi in St. Petersburg. It was a fun time...ish... It was the first time in about FOUR YEARS I had been to a bar. In that time, the rules had changed some, and some rules are still the same.1.) Apparently, I'm quite large compared to many of the boys there. However, I was not the largest one there, and this made me feel good. Dancing as a big boy is hard.
.) Even a large bald black man can suddenly become Ciara if the right video comes on, and there is room on the stage by the video screen.
.) Everyone gets happy when "Candyman" comes on.
.) It's nice to see people you haven't seen in a long time (Hey you.) The group that was always out and about when I was in my 20s is long gone, apparently. They must have all paired up and moved to fabulous places unknown.
.) Drinks are EXPENSIVE. Three bucks for a bottle of water? Really?
.) Some guys are actually cuter than their gay.com profile pics. Some are...how can I put this gracefully...not.
.) Twinks kissing on the dance floor are kinda gross. And make me a teensy bit jealous.
.) Rodan and I needed a little time to get back into the swing of things, but by the end of the night we were making fun of everyone like the old days.
.) Guys will still do the "Gently rub the hand on the lower back when they walk past to see how much chub you got going on" move. This saddnes me.
.) Taffy fancies herself a high school band fan. In her mind, this is what it looks like when she plays her saxophone....
