Most of the time, as you will find, my posts are about silly ridiculous things. (much like my life) However, I watched a show last night that was incredible. 20/20 special last night was on Children who are Transgender. Some of these children were as young as 6 and were already living their life as the oppisite sex.
Some seemed so happy that they were being allowed to be who they are, while others were so sad at the thought of their bodies changing as they get older.
These children were so lucky that their parents were AMAZINGLY supportive, while also sad and worried (mostly for their saftey).
As an adult, living in the same town as Steve Stanton, the City Director who is transissioning, I wonder what his life would be like if he had decided to change as achild. He has said that he always felt this way.
I hope that these children find stength to Love themselves in whatever mind set they have.
I have two daughters, and I would certainly be faced with a great deal of soul searching if faced with this. My heart goes out to them and their kids.
I was so glad to hear them talk about exceptance and allowing the kids to be who they wanted to be. They knew that this was not a phase, and just wanted them to be happy.
What ever your personal views are on this subject are, one thing rings true, a little understanding goes a long way!!
All children should have that kind of support system.
