So today was my first dentist visit...and my second and my third, apparently. Those of you who listened to the podcast know that last week I had my initial visit to see a new dentist, my first time in 20 years...Anywho, they found lots of issues, including cavities, wisdom teeth, deep tissue cleanings and most scarily of all, possible teeth extraction and bridgework (in the front, no less!!) And it was going to cost a lot of money. So today was to be my financial visit, where they went over what neeed to be done, and give me a rough estimate on what my dental insurance would cover.Anyway, while I was there, they had an opening for a deep tissue cleaning, and asked if I wanted it. I said yes. So I had my "sticker shock" meeting, then went in and had the first quarter of my mouth done (upper right quad). I went to schedule the next appointment, and was told they had a cancellation for today at 2, so I figured, what the hell, I'm half numbed up anyway. So, after a quick lunch (word of advice - when drinking something after getting your mouth all shot up with novacane, use a straw.), I went back and had the lower left quadrant done.
My mouth feels amazing. All the gunk is gone on the right side, and I can actually feel the back of my teeth by running my tounge over them - no more buildup or tartar!!! I am having the other side done in about a month, then its time for cavities and....the oral surgeon (wisdom teeth extraction....blogging on vicodin should be a lot of fun.....)

I am very proud of you! I, too, hate the dentist and avoid going at all cost. It's the financial side that scares me. You pay for dental insurance, but it never seems to cover much, except for cleanings...
Maybe you will inspire me to go. Maybe. Just maybe...
