Potential.

Ok, so I went to the Barnes and Noble and the Borders today, online coupons in hand, looking to save a little money on some trade paperbacks that I wanted. Anywho, I love me some bookstores. Especially on days like today, where it's all chilly and you get to be all bundled up, a latte in your hand. Ok, so the latte came later on at Starbucks, but I love bookstores none the less because of all the potential. You can walk into a bookstore with no preconceived notion of what you want, and walk out with, say, a book on how to make sushi, or the latest edition of lesbian erotica, or a copy of Gray's Anatomy (not the show - the actual book.) Or, you can look at a pluthera of magazines on all sorts of topics, from GLBT news to tattoos to home renovation to Anna Nicole Smith's alien murderers....ok, scratch that last one...anyway, the world is yours in a bookstore, all you need is the motivation to find something interesting.

After I bought my books, and was unable to find the one book that I wanted, I went to Starbucks, which reminded me why I like the Barnes and Noble Cafe' in the store: Stupid people don't read. At the BnN cafe, most people there are there to look through a magazine or read the paper and quietly drink a cup of coffee or tea. Starbucks are usually filled with...The cafe was slammed when I went in, and the Borders cafe is under renovation, so I just went to a Starbucks. Now, as my previous entries show, I love me a Starbucks. What I hate are the people who go INTO a Starbucks. The best example of this would come in the form of the young family with the two and a half year old that came into the tall ceiling-ed, tiled, not so soundproof building on Central and 66th Street N. The mom drops off the child and father at the table (reserved for handicapped people, of which they were not, of course) and walks away. The child, realizing that mom was walkng away, starts to scream. And scream. And scream. And then to make sure everyone knew he wasn't happy, he screamed again. Then mom and dad switched places, but Dad didn't know what mom wanted, so he's yelling for Mom across the store. She orders a mocha latte, oh, and she wants it grande. Dad brings over a milk box for his son, and mom is trying to put the straw in it, but child keeps screaming, I WANNNA DO IT! I WAAAAANNNNNNNAAAAAADOOOOOOOOOOITTTT!

Oh, and I had my iPod on this whole time. That's how loud they were

Anyway, during my journal writing experience, I wrote down a bunch of things that I want to do that I am not doing now. One of them is the podcast, and we may be closer on that than I had thought. Another thing is read more. I have books that I have bought with the intention of reading, and haven't gotten to yet (again, potential.). So, hopefully, I will be able to incorporate some of that into this new project for myself. But more on those later.....
