Ok, So Too Many Jelly Donuts...

So, after watching SYTYCD tonight, I can't help but feel that I have watched the equivalent of a box of jelly donuts. They taste great at the time, but then you're left with a headache and wondering why you did that to yourself. SYTYCD, along with a multitude of other shows I watch, have begun to really disappoint me this season. Part of it may be that I have bitten off more than I could chew as far as a number of shows, part of it may be that many of the shows I watch (i.e. Reality programs) are pretty much all the same and the formats have gotten stale, or part of it may be that I am just kinda watching shit shows. It's kinda sad to me that two of my shows I SO used to look forward to, Project Runway and America's Next Top Model, have their season finales this week, and I can't he happier that I'm getting a couple more hours back in my week! I've already dropped Ugly Betty and as of last night, The Venture Brothers (that one hurt, I'll be honest, but I'm not willing to smoke pot on Sunday nights to find the humor in a half hour cartoon.) and am finding the following shows to be "on the chopping block."

So You Think You Can Dance? - last season was an absolute tour de force! This season appears to be lackluster and just sorta meh. I seem to recall early on in the show's history Nigel bringing out all the dancers at the end of a show and telling them all they need to step it up because the episode was embarrassing. If something equivalent to that doesn't happen soon, there's a really good chance I'm out for the season. (And I also posted on my facebook page tonight that Travis Wall could take a shit on stage right now and the three hosts would be fighting over who got to kiss his ass first. You're proud of him - WE KNOW!!! You can't help but wonder if they get a cut of his future earnings as choreographer or something the way they preen over him.)

30 Rock - I'm currently watching the first season again on Netflix and this show appears to have really slid down this year. It's focusing a little too much on quirky (we get it, Tracy Jordan's crazy) and not enough on some of the more nuanced jokes that made the first season a real classic. (And I don't think I ever realized just how fucking hot Alec Baldwin is. I mean I know he's always been good looking, but ga-damn!) If I do give this show up, I will be REALLY sad.

Top Chef - I'm in for the season, Taffy, don't worry, but as the season has progressed, I find myself thinking this is the douch-iest of all the reality shows I watch. Between the judges and the contestants, this is a show where narcissism is at an all time high. The fact that out of the top five contestants three of them are assholes, and one of them looks like a raging alcoholic party girl (guess who?), I am quickly losing my will to want to watch it. So help me God if Kevin doesn't win this season....

Project Runway - The only reason I will definitely go back next season is that we have been assured that Nina Garcia and Michael Kors will be back to judge every week, ensuring that the contestants' work will be looked at over time vs. some really interesting designer's (Ra'mon) won't be let go so early on in the season. And, let's face it, they can't possibly find more bland people to be on next season, right? RIGHT!?

America's Next Top Model - I made my demands known to Tyra (you know she's a huge fan of PiMC) in a post earlier this week. If those demands aren't met....

Now, to end on a more positive note, there are other shows that I love and continue to enjoy, including Family Guy, The Cleveland Show, Modern Family, Glee, The Office and The Barefoot Contessa. I'm also looking forward to watching some missed shows on DVD/Netflix including True Blood, Mad Men, In Treatment and Battlestar Galactica. What do you think, people? Am I completely wrong here?

SYTYCD always has the ability to surprise and there is always someone who stands out and gives amazing performances. They ALWAYS come few and far between, maybe one GREAT routine a show, but I'll stick with it. It certainly is more entertaining than Dancing with the Stars because we have two talented dancers instead of a dancer and a novice.

Project Runway is on thin ice just because of the LOOOOOOOOOOOONG delay.

Of your choices for DVD, I'm with you on True Blood and Mad Men, but you are SOOOOOOO behind on Battlestar Galactica. I know it'll be hard to live up to the hype, but it truly was one of the best acted, best scripted dramas on television and criminally overlooked because it was on the Sci Fi channel. Start with the miniseries and go from there. There are no bad seasons. There are no story arcs that are departures from the plan. The story is solid and amazing.

Um, Yeah...after last nights SYTYCD (sans the Birdcage) I literaly looked at the girls and said "I'm done"
The whole "we have to put Legacy in no shirt" every week, followed by all the damn props
(because they need a distraction from the fact that they are all B-O-R-I-N-G)I am bored and find myself half ass watching it over my book.

I love Top Chef.

ANTM is so formula at this point, I really could care less...same goes for Project Runway. I am still holding out hope for next season.

Me thinks they have started season 6 too damn early. I would appreciate it more if I hadn't started to soon after last season's finale.

Yeah Boring...boring...boring. And somebody tell Nigel to build a bridge and get over himself....because we have.

If you're have time to add a couple other shows to your DVD/Netflix list, you should definitely add Dexter and Breaking Bad. Both shows are well worth the investment of time.

Just remember, the newest season of Bad Girls starts in December, if you need a bad reality show fix...

Lola, Dexter is on the list for Netflix, and is on the streaming list, so I can watch that once I get through all my 30Rocks. I've heard Breaking Bad is a great show and will add it to my list.

I think you should hang in with SYTYCD, if only to see where Legacy goes. He brings tears to my eyes every week. I think he is incredible. Victor has something too, but it is like it is trapped inside and he can't quite let it go. The women are definitely lack-luster, at least in my opinion. And WTF happened to Cat Deely? That pink old lady dress tonite was horrible, as was the aluminum dress last nite, and that shiney red number last week. yuck.

I am totally bored with Glee. I actually only made it halfway through the second episode before I gave up.

Project Runway - BORING.

I am glad that Intervention and Hoarders are starting new episodes this month, on my birthday no less!!!

That is all.
