Ok, So Done!!! (part 2)

So, I finished Dog Days: Dispatches From Bedlam Farms. It was a great book that I purposely did not fly through. The pacing of the stories, taken from author Jon Katz's time on his Bedlam Farm herding sheep and spending time with his dogs, cows and donkeys, kinda demands that you read it at a nice leisurely pace. I'll say this - farming sounds incredibly hard, but incredible rewarding! Taffy will love the book, but hate me for giving it to her to read.

So, what's next for Taylor? While I would love to read the latest David Sedaris, I think I am going to wait on that one, as I have another book he's associated with, that I had totally forgot I bought until Babaloo had moved in, and I found it on a bookshelf (kinda like Julia and Julia). Children Playing Before A Statue Of Hercules is a collection of short stories chosen and edited by Sedaris himself. I think the shorter stories will be a nice change of pace for me, what with the holidays coming up. Or I'll want to kill myself, one or the other.

Has anyone read this book? Or Dog Days, for that matter?

Ok, So The Babalatte Tree(s)

Ok so...I agree!

Ok, So It Makes Me Feel Old, But It's A Great Article....

I can't believe Tina Turner's classic almbum Private Dancer is 25 years old this year! And Tina just turned 70 yesterday. Here is a great article talking about how Tina came back from having only 36 cents and a Mobil credit card to a Grammy award winning singer and the true Queen of Rock and Roll.

Ok so...Give me something funky with the skin on top...

Banana Pudding Creme Brulee

1/2 cup sugar
3 tablespoons corn starch
pinch salt
3 eggs
2 1/2 cups whole milk
2 tablespoons butter
1 vanilla bean, split and scraped clean of the seeds
1-2 ripe bananas
whipped cream

I
n a saucepan, combine sugar, corn starch, and salt. In a separate bowl, mix the eggs, milk, and vanilla bean seeds (reserve the pod for another use), and add the milk mixture to the sugar mixture.

Over medium heat, with a wire whisk, whisk mixture well to eliminate any clumps. Stir constantly, while bringing the mixture to a boil, and thickening the pudding. This should take about 10 minutes. Stir in the butter.

Thinly slice the banana. Pour half of the pudding into individual cups. Place banana slices on top of the pudding, covering the surface. Pour the rest of the pudding on top, slowly as to not disturb the banana slices. Cover each cup with plastic wrap, putting the wrap directly on the pudding to avoid getting a skin.
(unless...like Tank, you actually like the skin)
Refrigerate for a few hours. Then submerge in a a warm pan of water, and broil for 1-2 min. on low to get the hard topping

When ready to serve, whip cream stiffly, place a dollop of cream on unwrapped pudding, and Enjoy!

Ok, So Do A Little For The Bird Who Will Be Doing Something For Us This Thursday

(Associated Press)
REHOBOTH, Mass. – A Massachusetts woman is seeking donations from fellow pet lovers to help pay for eye surgery for her turkey named Jerry. Lyndsey Medeiros and her husband adopted three-year-old Jerry and another turkey from a Rhode Island farm last week. But Jerry has cataracts, and the eye problems mean he can't eat independently or join his female companion, Penelope, in flying.
Medeiros has posted an ad on Craigslist seeking donations for the surgery. She said the procedure could cost up to $2,600. Her farm in Rehoboth, Mass., cares for other animals with health problems.

Ok so...What's all the fuss?

So he treated his dancers like dogs...Simulated oral sex and grabbed his crotch...Isn't that a typical sunday night for Rodan?

And might I remind people of some other "artists" who have pulled the same stunts: Madonna, MJ, and that Lady Gaga person...

At least he wasn't boring...

(The screaming has to go though and does he look a little cross eyed?)

Ok, So Season 1 Is Finished

Just finished watching it on the Netflix. Funny and smart, I can't recommend this one enough! I have seasons 2 and 3 on my queue, so I will get to them in due time. I have some other shows, including Dexter (season 1) and This American Life (season 1) to get through, not to mention watching a ton of movies and finishing Little Britain, Series 1.

Ok, So Is It Just Me.....

or is Levi Johnston's armpit hair weird? I mean, like distracting weird....
Either way, he's gross...

Ok, So The REAL Tragedy...

is that according to the commercials on last night's finale, this fucking show is back in January! JANUARY! Remember when you would be sad a show went off the air for a while because it was an event? Like So You Think You Can Dance? Or The Biggest Loser? Or the Olympics (oh, you laugh, but when they announce an Olympics channel that's on year round, you'll think, "That Taylor, he's a smart feller!"

Ok, So I'm Sorry...

...but that when all those meats are piled on each other, it looks like she's going to be serving hippo vagina to her family for the holiday....

Ok so...I just thought Taylor would get a kick out of this...

Ok, So Too Many Jelly Donuts...

So, after watching SYTYCD tonight, I can't help but feel that I have watched the equivalent of a box of jelly donuts. They taste great at the time, but then you're left with a headache and wondering why you did that to yourself. SYTYCD, along with a multitude of other shows I watch, have begun to really disappoint me this season. Part of it may be that I have bitten off more than I could chew as far as a number of shows, part of it may be that many of the shows I watch (i.e. Reality programs) are pretty much all the same and the formats have gotten stale, or part of it may be that I am just kinda watching shit shows. It's kinda sad to me that two of my shows I SO used to look forward to, Project Runway and America's Next Top Model, have their season finales this week, and I can't he happier that I'm getting a couple more hours back in my week! I've already dropped Ugly Betty and as of last night, The Venture Brothers (that one hurt, I'll be honest, but I'm not willing to smoke pot on Sunday nights to find the humor in a half hour cartoon.) and am finding the following shows to be "on the chopping block."

So You Think You Can Dance? - last season was an absolute tour de force! This season appears to be lackluster and just sorta meh. I seem to recall early on in the show's history Nigel bringing out all the dancers at the end of a show and telling them all they need to step it up because the episode was embarrassing. If something equivalent to that doesn't happen soon, there's a really good chance I'm out for the season. (And I also posted on my facebook page tonight that Travis Wall could take a shit on stage right now and the three hosts would be fighting over who got to kiss his ass first. You're proud of him - WE KNOW!!! You can't help but wonder if they get a cut of his future earnings as choreographer or something the way they preen over him.)

30 Rock - I'm currently watching the first season again on Netflix and this show appears to have really slid down this year. It's focusing a little too much on quirky (we get it, Tracy Jordan's crazy) and not enough on some of the more nuanced jokes that made the first season a real classic. (And I don't think I ever realized just how fucking hot Alec Baldwin is. I mean I know he's always been good looking, but ga-damn!) If I do give this show up, I will be REALLY sad.

Top Chef - I'm in for the season, Taffy, don't worry, but as the season has progressed, I find myself thinking this is the douch-iest of all the reality shows I watch. Between the judges and the contestants, this is a show where narcissism is at an all time high. The fact that out of the top five contestants three of them are assholes, and one of them looks like a raging alcoholic party girl (guess who?), I am quickly losing my will to want to watch it. So help me God if Kevin doesn't win this season....

Project Runway - The only reason I will definitely go back next season is that we have been assured that Nina Garcia and Michael Kors will be back to judge every week, ensuring that the contestants' work will be looked at over time vs. some really interesting designer's (Ra'mon) won't be let go so early on in the season. And, let's face it, they can't possibly find more bland people to be on next season, right? RIGHT!?

America's Next Top Model - I made my demands known to Tyra (you know she's a huge fan of PiMC) in a post earlier this week. If those demands aren't met....

Now, to end on a more positive note, there are other shows that I love and continue to enjoy, including Family Guy, The Cleveland Show, Modern Family, Glee, The Office and The Barefoot Contessa. I'm also looking forward to watching some missed shows on DVD/Netflix including True Blood, Mad Men, In Treatment and Battlestar Galactica. What do you think, people? Am I completely wrong here?

Ok so...A look back, Disney Style!

It’s the summer of 1973.

You’ve been reading your Walt Disney World Spring/Summer 1973 Information Guide. There are great attractions in each land of the Magic Kingdom.

Before you can enter the park, you need to decide what kind of admission to buy. You could just buy a General Admission ticket:

— GENERAL ADMISSION ONLY —
ADULT$4.50
JUNIOR (12 thru 17)$3.50
CHILD (3 thru 11)$1.50
Walt Disney World General Admission includes use for one day of the transportation systems (Monorails. ferryboats, and trams), admission to “Magic Kingdom” Theme Park and all free shows, exhibits, and entertainment.

A General Admission could work out well if you already have a pocket full of unused attraction tickets from earlier visits. But you probably don’t because the park is less that two years old. And even if you do, the tickets in your pocket are probably just “A” and “B” tickets—not the valuable “E” tickets that you need for the best attractions, such as the 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea submarine ride and The Hall of Presidents.

Ok, So It's Almost That Time Again...

for Taffy and Tank to sit around the piano and share with their friends and family this classic annual tradition.

PiMC: Episode 122 - Schooled By Jewel, or With A Children's Playground, Apparently....

Rodan's playing Foolish Games, Taylor's feeling Fast and Furious, and Taffy's a little concerned about how much Tank knows about certain topics. AND the sound quality is improved this week. Thank you to my two co hosts who worked on their audio issues (until the end when Taffy turns into a demon - you'll see what we mean.) We're podismycopilot.com.

Ok, So A Sad Day In Music History...

Apparently, BearForce 1 has broken up. And a world mourns their loss.

(Oh, and this video is why PiMC shouldn't do a video with choreography, because we would look like this dancing, only not as hairy...well, Rodan and I anyway...)

Ok, So That's Kinda Not The..Um, Point....

Ah, love...

OK, So At Least It's Not One More Book To Add To The List....Kinda...

(From ew.com)
Humorist David Sedaris is famous for his reading tours, where he likes to test and hone his pieces, and engage in banter and back-and-forth with his audiences. EW has learned that Hachette Audio will release a new Sedaris audiobook on Nov. 24. Live for Your Listening Pleasure—consisting of recordings culled from his recent American tour—will have no hardcover or paperback counterpart.”This was planned as an audio initiative,” says a Hachette spokeswoman. “It’s patterned after Live At Carnegie Hall”—a popular 2002 recording—”and though we first thought it would be a single event, he preferred to cobble together highlights form the entire tour.” You can hear an exclusive clip here:Exclusive: Clip from new David Sedaris audiobook

Ok, So I Have No Idea What She's Trying To Say With This One....

...but it's a pretty cool video. And the song is...well, who am I kidding, I'll be on the elliptical to this one.

And yes, Taffy owns the polar bear coat....

Ok so...Real Ginger...Oh Snap!

    1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).
    2. Sift the flour, ginger, baking soda, cinnamon, and salt into a mixing bowl. Stir the mixture to blend evenly, and sift a second time into another bowl.
    3. Place the shortening into a mixing bowl and beat until creamy. Gradually beat in the white sugar. Beat in the egg, and dark molasses. Sift 1/3 of the flour mixture into the shortening mixture; stir to thoroughly blend. Sift in the remaining flour mixture, and mix together until a soft dough forms. Pinch off small amounts of dough and roll into 1 inch diameter balls between your hands. Roll each ball in cinnamon sugar, and place 2 inches apart on an ungreased baking sheet.
    4. Bake in preheated oven until the tops are rounded and slightly cracked, about 10 minutes. Cool cookies on a wire rack.

    2 cups sifted all-purpose flour
  • 1 tablespoon ground ginger
  • 2 teaspoons baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 3/4 cup shortening
  • 1 cup white sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 1/4 cup dark molasses
  • 1/3 cup cinnamon sugar
